21 year old Alvin Dirkse has received an opportunity to study Photography at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography located in Technopark Stellenbosch. Alvin and his twin brother Sylvin joined Endurocad in 2016 and they have been two of our most inspiring and committed athletes. The brothers reside on Brakelsdal Farm in Mooiberge, where their father is a farm worker. We have been raised by parents who work very hard to support us. My parents try their best to provide for us, given our financial hardships its not possible for them to fund our post school educational ambitions, that is why I am so grateful for Endurocad. They have supported both Sylvin with an opportunity to study coaching and fitness at ETA and helped make my dream of photography possible- says Alvin
When we asked Alvin what his dream was, he said ” I want to be a World Class Sports Photographer one day”. I am inspired by Roger Sedres, an Internationally published award-winning photojournalist and owner of Image SA. I love his work because he always manages to capture these incredible moments and emotions. His pictures tell a story and it takes someone with real passion and skill to pull this off. I was always passionate about photography since a young age, not just sports photo’s but I loved photographing nature and animals on the farm.”
Endurocad sponsored Alvin’s first DSLR Camera, which he required to start his course at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. We want our athletes to pursue their dreams on and off the track, to be equally as passionate about their studies as they are about their sport. We believe that Alvin will achieve his dream one day , besides having a strong desire he is a very motivated and hard working individual. It is rewarding to see young athletes taking up opportunities and chasing their dreams! A huge thanks to Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography for affording Alvin this opportunity.
